In-Mould-Labelling (IML) is a process that uses offset printing to apply a design to a label made from the same material as the plastic part to be decorated. This process opens up a whole world of previously unknown decoration possibilities to users, and makes creating designs in brilliant 4-c photo quality simple. A robot places the printed labels in the injection mould. Then a vacuum sets the labels firmly in place in the mould and injects plastic. The labels and the plastic part form a solid compound; the injection-moulded part that is ejected from the cavity is completely decorated – no other processing steps are required. The used IML-Label is suitable for direct contact with food and dishwasher.
